“Synesthesia” is featuring a live collaboration of improvised music and art featuring Alfredo Rodriguez and Henry Taylor.
Alfredo Rodriguez is a Cuban composer and jazz pianist. He is noted for his fast-fingered leaping passages and harmonic lyricism.
He is a protege of Quincy Jones and has been very active since his discovery at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. He has also played at the Playboy Jazz Festival, SXSW Music Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival, San Francisco Jazz Festival, and more.
Alfredo has shared stages with jazz artists such as Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Patti Austin, Esperanza Spalding, and a number of other Grammy Award Winners.
Henry Taylor paints quick, loose portraits of his relatives, friends, celebrities, and athletes on large and small canvases, as well as creating evocative sculptures and assemblages of found materials.
Henry did not start painting until he was 40 and was as a psychiatric technician before that. His art is vibrant, bold, and loose, full of empathy, generosity, and love, and the visual equivalent to blues music.
